Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed storage battery producing no overcharged state by directly detecting internal pressure increase in the battery when charging. SOLUTION: This sealed storage battery has an alkali-resistant rubber plate 14 between a sealing plate 15 and an electrode cap 16, pressure-sensitive, conductive rubber 11 is arranged in the position where an opening part 15a of the sealing plate 15 is installed and interposed between the alkali-resistant rubber plate 14 and the electrode cap. The pressure within the battery caused by generated gas is transmitted to the pressure-sensitive, conductive rubber 11 through the alkali-resistant rubber plate 14, the pressure of gas generated within the battery is immediately transmitted to the pressure-sensitive, conductive rubber 11, and immediately taken out as an electric signal to the outside of the battery through a lead 12 connected to the pressure-sensitive, conductive rubber 11.
