Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a promoter commanding the initiation of the transcription of ubiquitin gene of Lentinus edodes, a terminator commanding the termination of the transcription of ubiquitin gene of Lentinus edodes, a recombination vector containing the promoter and/or terminator, a transformant containing the recombination vector, and a method for producing a polypeptide using the transformant. SOLUTION: The subject gene is a DNA that can function as a promoter and is described as follows: (a) a DNA containing a base sequence shown by 1st to 2116th base in sequence 1 of the specification, or (b) a DNA that contains a base sequence modified by deleting, substituting or adding one base or more from, in or to sequence 1 of the specification, and has a promoter activity.
