Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable optical transmitter that is highly immune to dispersion in a group velocity of an optical fiber and that hardly deteriorates in the receiving sensitivity and may not be affected by the dispersion in the group velocity for the extension of the network scale. SOLUTION: The optical transmitter consists of a light source section that generates an optical clock pulse synchronously with a signal bit rate at a prescribed duty ratio and that variably sets the duty ratio of the optical clock pulse and a coding section that sets a relative optical phase difference between optical clock pulses in adjacent time slots to an odd number multiple of πin order to encode the optical clock pulse by an electric signal in synchronism with the optical clock pulse.
