Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-water-resistant unsaturated polyester resin composition which, in an open-mold process of FRP, can reduce the twining of glass fibers around a defoaming roll even after a time elapsed in lamination and defoaming operations without deterioration of the hot-water resistance and mechanical strengths; a resin mixture for lamination containing the same; and a molded item obtained from the mixture. SOLUTION: The resin composition is prepared by dissolving (A) 40-80 pts.wt. unsaturated polyester prepared by reacting essential reactants consisting of 15-45 mol% dicyclopentadiene, 15-45 mol% propylene glycol, and 25-55 mol% at least one acid selected from maleic acid, maleic anhydride, and fumaric acid in (B) 60-20 pts.wt. crosslinking monomer, the sum of components A and B being 100 pts.wt. The resin mixture is prepared by dispersing 0.1-10 pts.wt. inorganic thixotropic agent in the resin composition of 100 pts.wt. and mixing the resulting dispersion with 0.01-1.2 pts.wt. hydroxyl-terminated 1,4- polybutadiene. The molded item is obtained from the resin mixture.
