Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for detecting foreign matters in a fluid capable of surely and accurately detecting, on line and in real time, minute-shaped foreign matters such as metallic pieces and metallic powder mixed in a fluid such as lubricating oil that might cause a trouble such as seizing when they get into a sliding part of a bearing or the like. SOLUTION: This method for detecting foreign matters in a fluid is used to detect foreign matters mixed in a fluid such as lubricating oil 2, and characterized in that a magnetic field 5 is impressed on the lubricating oil 2, that a change of the magnetic field 5 caused by foreign matters passing through the magnetic field 2 is detected as a change of electric resistance by a reluctance element 6, and that the foreign matters are detected based on the change of the electric resistance. |
