Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate without a record disc groove-like projecting and recessing shape on a surface of a protective layer caused by stretching of a polarizing film, with a clear reflection image when observed by reflection, thereby improving appearance, and a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: In the case a polarizer with >=35% transmissivity and >=90% polarization degree is obtained, the water content of the polarizer is kept in 5-30% range while a protective layer is stuck on one or both surfaces of the polarizer (provided that a method for measuring the water content of the polarizer is based on the equation the water content (%) of the polarizer = [(A-B)/B]×100 using the polarizer's weight before sticking (A) and the weight after keeping the polarizer in a drier under 120 deg.C for seven hours (B)).
