Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and inexpensive hydraulic booster capable of changing variously a stroke characteristic in an input side without affected by an output side, without requiring any modification of a large scale. SOLUTION: An input shaft 4 is advanced, a lever 27 is turned and a control valve 8 is operated, in an operation, and the control valve 8 generates hydraulic fluid pressure in respose to an input. The hydraulic fluid pressure is introduced into a power chamber 6, and a primary piston 37 is actuated by the fluid pressure to generate master cylinder pressure. On the other hand, the fluid pressure of the power chamber 6 is introduced into the first annular groove 25 of a valve spool 10, and the valve spool 10 receives action force to a right direction by a pressure receiving area difference for the fluid pressure in the annular groove 25. A function of a stroke simulator is exhibited by operation-controlling the valve spool 10 to balance the action force and spring force of a spring 32 with the input in a condition where a position of a turning fulcrum of the lever 27 is constant.
