Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enhanced image processing method that provides enhanced color reproduction. SOLUTION: The image processing method of this invention that automatically processes a digital color image whose pixels have digital luminance, chrominance and hue values introduced through prescribed conversion, includes a step where the pixel values are converted into luminance, chrominance and hue values, a step where the hue value is converted by consistently and smoothly moving a color toward a hue in a prescribed suitable color or apart therefrom, and a step where the hue value in a prescribed region in a color space is consistently and smoothly shifted to avoid a prescribed unpreferable color.
