Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device which performs electric power saving of a lighting means and is also easy to be used even at a dark place without damaging its operability. SOLUTION: In this portable terminal device provided with a 1st lighting mean provided in an input key part having an operation key part and a number key part and a 2nd lighting means provided in a display part and constructed so as to be able to perform a data communication, the 1st lighting means is provided with an operation key lighting means for lighting the operation key part and a number key lighting means for lighting the number key part and in the case of performing data communication, the operation key lighting means is gradually subjected to light reduction after a preliminarily defined time passes from the last key operation of the input key part. The electric power saving of the lighting means can be performed, and the lighting is not turned off suddenly even in the case of performing data communication at a dark place so that its operability can not be damaged.
