Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with a barrier having a mechanism by which a lens barrel is protected when a barrier is operated to be pressed in a closing direction and which is extremely simplified. SOLUTION: This camera with a barrier has the barrier 2 moving to an opening position where it opens/closes the front of a lens barrel 3 which can advance/retreat and a closing position where it covers over the front thereof, and is provided with a guard shaft 16 integrated with the lens barrel 3 and moving to advance/retreat together with the lens barrel 3. When the barrier 2 is moved in the closing direction, the lens barrel 3 is withdrawn. At such a time, when at least the lens barrel 3 exists at a projecting position from a camera main body, the movement of the barrier 2 in the closing direction is regulated by the shaft 16 also existing at the projecting position. When the lens barrel 3 is withdrawn to a housing position, the shaft 16 is also retreated from the projecting position and the barrier 2 is driven to slide to the closing position.
