Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation method of a cycloolefin polymer having a viscosity number of >20 cm3/g and a glass transition temperature of >100 deg.C. SOLUTION: The cycloolefin polymer prepared by the method comprising polymerizing 0.1-100 wt.% of at least one of monomers, on the basis of the whole amount of the monomers, represented by formulas (I), (II), (III), and (IV) (in the formulas, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 are each H or a 1-8C alkyl group), 0-99.9 wt.% of a cycloolefin, on the basis of the whole amount of the monomers, represented by formula (V), (wherein, n is an integer of 2-10) and 0-99.9 wt.% of at least one of acyclic 1-olefins, on the basis of the whole amount of the monomers, represented by formulas (VI), (wherein, R9, R10, R11 and R12 are each H or a 1-8C alkyl group) in a solution state, a suspension state, a monomer melt state or a vapor phase at -78 to 150 deg.C under a pressure of 0.5-64 bar in the presence of a specific catalyst comprising metallocene as a transition metal component and aluminozane.
