Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object positioning method that does not require an additional device element, improves reliability of an object, especially a surgery instrument, and allows continuous and entirely automatic determination of its position and direction. SOLUTION: This method allows positioning of an object such as the surgery instrument in intervention radiology. This method simulates projection for comparing an actually projected image with a known geometrical shape of the object to be positioned. A position and a direction of a desired object are obtained by optimal correspondence between the simulation and the actual image. This method can be employed based on a digital image process, together with an usual radiation diagnostic device such as a C-type arm radioscopy device, a computer X-ray tomograph, or a magnetic resonance tomograph. The positioned object is provided with a marker, and a clear projected image is provided due to its spatial position.
