Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To judge a fault of a secondary circuit load and a fault of an AC exciting means. SOLUTION: A neutral point current flowing to an AC exciting synchronous machine 26 side is detected by a current detector 24 with secondary circuit equipment 38a to 38c of currents flowing to neutral point circuits for connecting frequency converters 18a to 18c to the machine 26 as a reference. Currents of the converters 18a to 18c are respectively detected by current detectors 22a to 22c. A coincidence of the detected current Inr with a polarity of a current Inc indicating a sum of the detected currents Inca, Incb, Incc is judged by a current fault detector 32. When the polarities coincide, a protective operation of a protective logic circuit 30 is stopped. Meanwhile, when the polarities are different, drive operations of the converters 18a to 18c are stopped by the circuit 30.
