Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a Ziegler-Natta catalyst composition capable of producing a film reduced in the tendency to form microspecks and a fiber reduced in troublesome contamination and capable of prolonging the operable life of a filtration screen for a polymer melt. SOLUTION: There is provided is a Ziegler-Natta catalyst composition containing (a) a solid component containing a titanium or vanadium compound and a magnesium compound as active components, a microparticulate inorganic oxide as a support, and an inner electron-donating compound; (b) an aluminum compound as a cocatalyst; and optionally (c) another external electron-donating compound, wherein the microparticulate inorganic oxide used has a specific surface area of 350-1,000 m2/g and a mean particle diameter D in the range of 5-60 μm and is composed of primary particles having a mean particle diameter d in the range of 1-10 μm, voids or grooves are contained in each primary particle, the macroscopic rate of voids or grooves having a diameter larger than 1 μm in the microparticulate inorganic oxide is 5-30 vol.%, and the molar ratio of the magnesium compound to the microparticulate inorganic oxide is in the range of 0.5:1 to 2.0:1. |
