Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing density measuring apparatus capable of measuring a printing density of a color bar with a simple constitution without necessity of mechanical processing of complicated control or a high accuracy. SOLUTION: The printing density measuring apparatus comprises an X-Y axis direction movable head 7 movable in an X-axis direction 101 and a Y-axis direction 102 and a density measuring unit 2 coupled to the head 7 on a surface of a sheet placing table 1. In this case, a density measuring unit 2 body is supported by several rotary rollers 17a, 17b, 17c, 17d. The measuring unit is moved by a spiral spring 8. Thus, the moving distance of the unit 2 is detected by rotating amounts of the rollers.
