Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a low-sulfur and low nitrogen FCC feed having small content of a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, and thereby for increasing an FCC yield and especially the quantity of production of an FCC gasoline. SOLUTION: This method for reducing the content of the sulfur compound and the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon in the feedstock of a hydrocarbon having 200-600 deg.C boiling point range is characterized by each step of (a) a step for bringing the feedstock into contact with hydrogen on a hydrogenation catalyst under a condition effective for the hydrogenation treatment to provide a hydrogenated outflow containing the hydrogenated feedstock, hydrogen sulfide and the hydrogen, (b) a step for cooling the outflow, and (c) a step for bringing the cooled outflow into contact with the hydrogenation catalyst under a condition effective for the hydrogenation of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon.
