SOLUTION: The machine protection system is provided with a control system 18 and a vector sensor unit 12, communicating with the control system and sensing vibration amplitude and phase, and the operation of the rotating equipment is controlled, based on the vibration amplitude and phase by the control system. In an embodiment, the vector sensor unit includes a proximity probe 14 and an angle position sensor 16.
