Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the requisite draw torque with a motor at the time of changing over from the P-range to any other range and drive the motor with the obtained requisite draw torque. SOLUTION: A CPU 30 computes the drawoff load acting on a detent lever 5, etc., when a shift is made from the P-range to any other range at manipulating a shift lever 25, while an SBW-CU 32 controls the driving force of a drive motor 12 for changing over the range in such a way as corresponding to the load calculated by the CPU 30 when the shift lever 25 moves from the P-range to other range. Accordingly if a large drawoff load is required, the drive motor 12 is operated with a large torque, and in case the operation can manage with a minor drawoff load, the motor is operated with a minor torque, and thereby the motor speed is suppressed.
