Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery preventing reduction of the capacity and battery voltage caused by repeated of charging/discharging. SOLUTION: The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises an electrode group 9 composed of a positive electrode 6, a negative electrode 7 and a separator 8 between them which are layered and helically wound and a non-aqueous electrolyte stored in a container 10. At least either the positive electrode 6 or the negative electrode 7 has a groove 4 on an active material layer, and at least one end of the groove 4 ends on the longer side of the active material layer.
