Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recorder which can make a seeking operation at high speed by suppressing the worsening of settling operation caused by a reading difference which occurs between the position of a head and the positional information read by the head during the seeking operation even when the widths of tracks are narrowed for improving the recording density. SOLUTION: When the moving speed of the head is faster than a preset speed, a virtual cylinder address generating section 110 converts cylinder addresses 23 read out through the head into virtual cylinder addresses 210 which are divided into groups each containing tracks the number of which is larger than that of tracks traversed by the head during the time necessary for reading the positional information recorded on a magnetic disk and supplies the addresses 210 to a seek controller 100. The section 110 optimizes the seek controlling condition of the controller 100 by outputting the parameter setting signal 211 corresponding to the number of grouped tracks. |
