Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generally realize a method for the titled method in the management of a data processing system, and especially to attain the method in the management of a disk array storage device. SOLUTION: The load averaging of activity on a physical disk storage device is achieved, by monitoring reading and writing for blocks at adjacent storage positions on the physical disk storage device. The list of a pair of exchangeable blocks is formed based on the size and function. Statistic stored across a certain intervals is used for obtaining an access activation value related with each block and each physical disk drive. The activity is expressed as a disk seek time, a wait time, and a data transfer time. A pair of blocks are selected by statistical analysis. Then, the exchange is conducted after test for certifying adverse effects generated due to the change is operated, and loads are further evenly distributed on each physical disk storage device. |
