Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure high reliability in a spliced section for a long period by fusion splicing two kinds of optical fibers having different melting points using an adhesive. SOLUTION: A quartz base optical fiber 11A and a tail light glass optical fiber 3 which have different melting points are respectively inserted into a fusion tube 12 different in the wall thickness of inserting parts 12A, 12B and are fusion spliced by an additional electric discharge heating so that mode field diameters of both optical fibers coincide after performing a main electric discharge. |
