Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simultaneously manufacturing a butadiene trimer, cyclododecatriene, useful as an industrial intermediate and a trans-1,4- polybutadiene, and a method for simply separating and purifying the trans-1,4- polybutadiene from a reaction solution containing these products. SOLUTION: Butadiene is allowed to react in the presence of a catalyst comprising a titanium compound and an organoaluminum compound to simultaneously give a trans-1,4-polybutadiene (TPB) and cyclododecatriene. In separating and purifying the TPB from a reaction solution obtained by allowing butadiene to react in the presence of the above catalyst, the TPB is precipitated and filtered to be separated from a still residue obtained by distilling off cyclododecatriene from the reaction solution. |
