Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect a toner mark without increasing toner consumption and also without highly accurately adjusting the attaching position of an optical detection system in a toner mark forming position adjusting method, a printer engine and an image forming device. SOLUTION: In the image forming device by which the toner mark is detected by the optical detection system by forming the toner mark at a photoreceptor or a medium carrying means, it incorporates a detection process to detect the deviation of the toner mark against the optical axis of the optical detection system and an adjusting process to adjust the forming position of the toner mark based on the deviation detected.
