Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system, which detects and notifies the duplicate setting of a position number between a plurality of terminals connected to the same LAN. SOLUTION: A CPU 11a fetches specific number information stored in a data area, corresponding to a position number set on the basis of the set position of a terminal 11 among data made to flow on the LAN, and collates this specific number with an specific number that is stored preliminarily in a ROM 11b. When the specific numbers do not match with each other, the CPU 11a transmits an abnormality signal to a display device 21 and also overwrites the specific number which is allocated to data circulating on the LAN and is stored in the data area corresponding to the position number, set on the basis of the set position of the terminal 11 with the specific number that is stored preliminarily in the ROM 11b.
