Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive ultrasonic survey instrument of high performance capable of conducting highly precise position detection using a reduced number of receive elements. SOLUTION: This survey instrument is provided with a transmission part (CNT, TX, TD1, TD) having transmission elements TD1, TD2 to transmit an ultrasonic wave, a reception part having plural receive elements TD1, TD2 for receiving a reflected wave, of the transmitted ultrasonic wave, from a body, to provide plural receive signals a1, a2, a direction detecting part (M1, M2, LPF1, LPF2, ARG, DP) for detecting a direction of the body based on an azimuth function determined by shapes and arrangements of the plural receive elements TD1, TD2 and a phase difference between the received signals a1, a2 received by the receive elements, and a display part (ADD, ABS, DP, DIS) for detecting a position of the body to be displayed based on the detected direction and a required propagation time. |
