PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a humidity control material excellent in handling property, suitable to wide area humidity control and also excellent in humidity control function. SOLUTION: The humidity control material contains calcium silicate hydrate, quartz and activated carbon as main constituent components and has a porosity of 70-90%. In the production method of the porous humidity controlling material, the water slurry using siliceous starting powder, calcic starting powder and activated carbon powder as main starting materials is prepared, and the slurry is coagulated and solidified after incorporating bubbles in the water slurry by a frothing agent or a foaming agent, moreover the resulting material is subjected to steam aging at high temp. and high pressure.
