Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel material whose delayed fracture resisting strength is made excellent. SOLUTION: As to the method for producing a steel material excellent in delayed fracture resistance, the average size of the flat part in old austenitic grain boundaries is controlled to <=5 μm, or the strength in crystallized products is controlled to >=50% to macrostrength, or the absolute value thereof is controlled to >=220 Hv. Moreover, as to the above method for producing a steel material, heating treatment, crystal refining, solid solution strengthening, dispersion strengthening and transition strengthening are executed.
