Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify an automobile driver by a simple method without requiring an ID card, a special additional operation, or the like. SOLUTION: Operation detecting means 21 to 27 detect various kinds of operations by a driver and transmit them to a characteristic managing means 1. The characteristic managing means 1 records them together with time data, then extracts characteristic quantities usable for driver certification, and compares the characteristic quantities with characteristic quantities stored in a characteristic-quantity memory means 2. When a conforming pattern is found, the driver is identified as an individual by the pattern. A control- parameter reading means 3 reads out control parameters specific to the individual, and a control means 5 controls an automobile in various ways by using the parameters.
