SOLUTION: This lock stitch sewing machine is provided with a thread nipper assembly 46 for a bobbin thread. An arm shaft 5 provided with a crank transmission device 8 for driving elevation of a needle rod 13 provided with a needle 14, and a needle thread take-up transmission device 16 having a needle thread take-up lever 17 to guide a needle thread 19 to be supplied to the needle 14 are provided, a rotating hook 21 which cooperates with the needle 14 has a stock of bobbin threads under a throat plate 47, and the thread nipper assembly 46 is formed of a drive unit 40. In this case, a rotation position generator to provide a real measurement signal to express a rotation position of the crank transmission device 8, and a control part 52 having a target value signal input device 53 are provided, and a control part is connected to the drive unit 40 of the thread nipper assembly 46 as a circuit for changing the thread nipper assembly 46 from a nip position into a release position when the real measurement signal coincides with a target value signal.
