Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce quinacridone having a desired narrow size distribution with reducing a production cost and impact to the environment by using a small amount of a dehydrating agent. SOLUTION: This continuous production of a quinacridone pigment is to (a) prepare a reaction mixture by mixing (i) 2, 5-dianilinoterephthalic acid or its ester with at least about 0.5 pt.wt. of (ii) a dehydrating agent based on the pt.wt. of the ingredient (a) (i), (b) produce a crude quinacridone composition by passing the reaction product through a continuous reaction vessel having one or more of heating zones of about 80-300 deg.C and (c) mix the continuous flow of the crude quinacridone composition with a liquid in which the quinacridone pigment is essentially insoluble in a rate of about 0.5-15 pts.wt. of the liquid based on the pt.wt. of the crude quinaqcridone composition.
