Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the cost by restraining and preventing the development of an edge seam during hot-rolling and by suppressing energy cost and electric power cost. SOLUTION: The corner parts of a continuously cast slab 7 are continuously rolled into chamfered shapes with chamfering rolls 12 just below a mold 6 of continuous casting equipment in order to suppress a rapid and large temp. drop at these corner parts in the hot-rolling process after ejection from a heating furnace, transformation from the structure into the α structure at these parts and the cause of the edge seam development itself caused by the difference of the extent of plastic deformation. |
