Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a higher harmonic current, which is generated when suction force of an electric air blower is controlled by controlling the power of the electric air blower by phase control, in a vacuum cleaner with controlled suction force of the electric air blower. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner is structured so that the power of an electric air blower for suction is controlled by a phase control means 17. The phase control means 17 makes phase control in a phase control angle range smaller than 90 deg. of a phase control angle, as well as in a phase control angle range larger than 90 deg.. A phase control angle range larger than 90 deg. is set closer to 90 deg. than the phase control angle range of smaller than 90 deg..
