Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate an inoperative space which is required for fastening a flange, during vacuum seal for a vacuum chamber in an accelerator, and to enhance the working efficiency of assembly of the accelerator. SOLUTION: In an accelerator, a male thread is formed at the outer periphery of a threaded flange which is one of flanges 2, and a female thread is formed in a flange fastener 5 surrounding the outer peripheries of the flanges 2, in a zone which corresponds to the male thread part, in order to effect fastening. The threaded flange 21 and the flange fastener 5 are fastened together, a flange 22 incorporating an oilless bearing, which is the other of the flanges 2, being clamped therebetween, and accordingly, a gasket 24 held between knife edges located at the inner surfaces of the flanges 2 is squeezed, thereby it is possible to effect vacuum sealing for a vacuum chamber 1.
