Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing brass capable of sufficiently refining crystal grains. SOLUTION: This is a method for producing brass having 37 to 46 wt.% apparent Zn content and moreover contg. 0.02 to 0.5 wt.% B and has a stage in which brass melted at a cooling rate of 5×101 to 105 K/sec at the time of casting is solidified and a stage in which the brass after the solidification is cooled to <=400 deg.C at a cooling rate of >=5K/sec. In this way, the good refining effect on the crystal grains in the brass after the casting can be obtd.
