Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-power aperture lamp, by providing a reflector demarcating a reflective cavity surrounding a bulb storing a filler for discharge formation and an aperture for light emission, and providing the reflective cavity with a considerably small inside surface area. SOLUTION: A coupling construction transmits microwave energy, and a bulb stores a filler for discharge formation that emits light when stimulated by the microwave energy. A reflector is disposed in a microwave cavity. and the inside surface area of a reflective cavity is considerably smaller than that of the microwave cavity, A screen 4a has a solid portion 5a and a mesh portion 7a, and a dielectric substance 24 is present between an upper surface of a wave guide 25 and a bulb 9a. The dielectric substance 24 has a dielectric constant larger than the dielectric constant of air. A dielectric constant of 4 or more is needed to considerably reduce the size of a resonance cavity 3. |
