Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp device making the initial setting (initial adjustment) according to the position of an optical sensor to a control circuit unnecessary and excellent in usability. SOLUTION: This fluorescent lamp device has an apparatus main body 50, a reflecting plate 60 mounted on the apparatus main body 50, and a fluorescent lamp 70 arranged along the reflecting plate 60. A light transmitting window 65 is installed in the position near to the fluorescent lamp 70 of the reflecting plate 60. An optical sensor 80 for receiving light of the fluorescent lamp 70 through the light transmitting window 65 is arranged on the inside of the apparatus main body 50. A control circuit for controlling light output of the fluorescent lamp 70 in response to a signal of the optical sensor 80 in almost a constant is installed. Only a part of the fluorescent lamp 70 is visible through the light transmitting window 65 as viewed from the position of the optical sensor 80 on the inside of the apparatus main body 50. The optical sensor 80 detects the brightness of the fluorescent lamp 70 through the light transmitting window 65, and does not receive other lights causing error in detection.
