Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress maximum current consumption of an optical disk device during recording and to increase the service life of a power supply battery used in a portable device. SOLUTION: In an optical disk recording device, a traverse 18 is stopped first while recording data onto an optical disk 1. Then, a magnetic coil driving circuit 22 is driven and simultaneously a laser output control circuit 20 is put into a recording output mode and a recording is started. Then, the output of an optical spot position detecting circuit 11 is monitored. When a detection is made in which the displacement of the actuator of an optical pickup 2 exceeds a displacement limit value, the driving of the circuit 22 is stopped, simultaneously the circuit 20 is put into a reproducing output mode and recording is temporarily stopped. Then, the traverse 18 is moved for a prescribed amount in an outer peripheral direction. Having completed the move, the pickup 2 is moved to the position where the recording is temporarily stopped and the recording continues.
