Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phosphor composition having good luminance characteristics, after-glow characteristics, and deterioration resistance even in a high-current drive and giving a fluorescent film desirable for cathode ray tubes by mixing a Y2SiO5:Tb phosphor with an SrGa2S4:Eu phosphor in a specified ratio. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 75-95 mass % Y2SiO5:Tb phosphor and 5-25 mass % SrGa2S4:Eu. This composition is thoroughly mixed with a 0.1% K2SiO3 solution to prepare a dispersion. This dispersion is added to a Ba(NO3)2 solution, and the resultant solution is placed on a glass panel and is subjected to a precipitation treatment to form a fluorescent film on the panel. The thus formed fluorescent film is processed to obtain a cathode ray tube. The SrGaS4:Eu phosphor is obtained by mixing 0.1-1.5 mol of a strontium salt with 1.5-2.5 mol of gallium salt, and 0.001-0.05 mol of europium oxide, adding a suitable amount of a solvent to the mixture, firing the resultant mixture at 700-900 deg.C in a hydrogen sulfide gas atmosphere, and subsequently carrying out washing with water, drying, and screening. |
