Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly attain encoding and decoding using wavelet conversion. SOLUTION: At an encoding device side, the wavelet conversion signal of a two-dimensional signal is region-divided into plural coefficient groups with coefficients arranged at spatially the same positions as one group (a coefficient group to which the same subscripts a, b, c, and d are added is defined as one coefficient group), and encoding processing to the plural coefficient groups is executed in parallel by plural encoding parts. At a decoding device side, decoding processing to the encoded signals of the plural coefficient groups is executed in parallel, and region synthesis opposite to the region division is operated to the obtained plural coefficient groups so that one group of wavelet conversion coefficients can be obtained, and inversion wavelet conversion is operated to the group of wavelet conversion coefficients so that the original two-dimensional signal can be restored. |
