PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute highly accurate flow rate control on the basis of an approximate curve by using the small number of parameters. SOLUTION: A flow rate controlling method for controlling the flow rate of fluid flowing into a passage by finding out operation quantity X from a set flow rate on the basis of a prescribed approximate expression and driving an actuator for a valve on the basis of the operation quantity X is provided with a process for using an expression expressing an approximately S shape-like or approximately Z shape-like curve having the saturated level QMAX of the flow rate and at least two parameters other than the saturated level QMAX as an approximate expression for determining relation between the set flow rate and the operation quantity X and finding out the operation quantity X from the set flow rate on the basis of the expression of the curve and a process for controlling the flow rate by providing the operation quantity X to the actuator of the valve and adjusting the displacement of the valve.
