Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure in a short time by disposing a container filled with liquid or the like, sealed at its opening with a sheet to be measured and set under predetermined conditions in a thermogravimetric analyzer, and measuring a weight of the container as a function of a time. SOLUTION: Permeability of a sheet-like material is measured by using, for example, a thermogravimetric analyzer 100. First, a predetermined liquid such as, for example, water is filled in a container 12 made of a stainless steel or the like and having no permeability, and an opening of the container 12 is sealed with a sheet material to be measured by using a cover having a predetermined opening and a deformable material such as, for example, an O-ring or the like. The sealed container 12 is disposed in a container holder 114 in a chamber 110 under predetermined temperature and humidity or the like by supplying, for example, nitrogen. Thereafter, a weighing instrument 112 is used to continuously measure a weight of the container 12, for example, in order of several hours. Permeability is calculated by using obtained weight change per hour, a thickness of the material to be measured, an area of the opening of the cover, and vapor pressures in and out of the container 12.
