Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and surely execute a repairing work capable of sufficiently displaying the function in a short time by forming an opening part on a furnace wall range needing the repair and fitting a cooling stave unit composed of an iron shell, cooling stave and refractory thereto. SOLUTION: The furnace wall range is cut off and the opening part is formed for repairing and changing one set of the worn cooling stave. On the other hand, the cooling stave unit 14 having the similar shape as the shape of the opening part and smaller by a prescribed value than the opening part and the cooling stave 1, iron shell 2 and a monolithic refractory 5, is beforehand constituted and this unit 14 is fitted to the opening part. The cooling stave 1 is fitted by keeping a prescribed gap with bolts 3 to the iron shell 2 having a prescribed size, and in the whole spare range of this gap, the monolithic refractory 5 is uniformly filled up so as to eliminate a cavity part. In the cooling stave 1, a cooling water path 11 is arranged and connected with an inlet 7 and an outlet 8 for cooling water so as to pass through the water.
