Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change over a switching element with required degree of flexibility without the need for a middle-point potential. SOLUTION: An arm (a), an arm (b), an arm (c) and an auxiliary arm (f) are connected in parallel with a battery B. Respective middle points of the arms (a), (b), (c) are connected to the middle point of the auxiliary arm (f) via bidirectional switches and a coil. The switching element of every arm is switched over in such a way that the medium-point potential of each arm is switched over to a battery voltage from a ground level. After that, the switching element of the auxiliary arm is switched over, in such a way that the middle- point potential of the auxiliary arm is switched over to the ground level from the battery voltage. The auxiliary arm is changed over in such a way that a coil current is regenerated and after that, when the coil current becomes zero, the bidirectional switches are switched, and this soft switching inverter circuit is switched.
