Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject solid polyelectrolyte having a high ionic conductivity and capable of providing a thinner type electrochemical element and laminating the electrochemical element by adding a metal salt and a cyanoethylated amine compound to a vinylimidazoline polymer. SOLUTION: This solid polyelectrolyte comprises (A) a vinylimidazoline polymer, (B) a metal salt and (C) a compound represented by formula I (n is >=2). The component A is preferably a polymer represented by formula II (m is >=2; R1 to R4 are each H or an alkyl). The component B is preferably a lithium salt. The amount of the added component B is preferably 1-500 wt.% based on the component A when, e.g. lithium perchlorate is used as the component B. The amount of the added component C is preferably 1-1,000 wt.% based on the component A when, e.g. the lithium perchlorate is used as the component B. Thereby, the solid polyelectrolyte can be expected for the use as a solid electrolyte of a polymer battery without causing liquid leakage.
