Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an angular velocity detecting system the performance of which exceeds that of the tuning fork type angular velocity sensor which is not able to match the sense resonance completely due to its biaxial property. SOLUTION: Markers 2 incorporating resonators which resonate to radio waves in intermediate to long frequency bands of 100-500 kHz are buried at regular intervals in the lanes of a road along the center lines of the lanes and an antenna 4 which can transmit the above-mentioned radio wave and a plurality of antennas 5, 6, and 7 which can receive the radio wave are attached to the right and left sides and center of the front bumper of a vehicle 3. When the vehicle 3 changes its course while running, the lateral distance of a marker is calculated from the receiving levels of the antennas 5, 6, and 7 at the time at which it is considered that the vehicle passes over the marker 2, because the receiving levels are inversely proportional to the distances from the markers 2 to the antennas 5, 6, and 7. In addition, the turning angle of the vehicle 3 is found based on the distance between the markers 2 and the lateral distance of the marker 2 and the angular velocity of the vehicle 4 is found based on the running time of the vehicle 3 between the markers 2.
