PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-step slide compound base isolation unit and a base isolation structure using this unit, excellent in execution work and economical efficiency, while apprehension causing uneven settlement of the structure and generating buckling in a base isolation device by an elastic support is eliminated and excellent base isolation performance by long periodicity and high damping of the structure can be displayed. SOLUTION: This base isolation unit 3 is constituted by integrally forming a pair of fixture plates 5a, 5b fixed to each upper/lower structure 2, 1, two sheets or more of connection plates 6 arranged between these fixture plates, first base isolation devices 7 by a slide support fixing main unit parts 7a to these fixture plates 5a, 5b and an upper or lower surface of the connection plates 6 and providing slide materials 7b in a tip end part slidably in the opposed fixture plates or connection plates, and second base isolation devices 8 by an elastic support fixing both end parts respectively to the fixture plates and the connection plates.
