Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume holographic memory optical information recording/ reproducing device which enables recording of an interference pattern on a volume holographic memory with a high density. SOLUTION: A volume holographic memory optical information recording/ reproducing device has a supporting means which supports a volume holographic memory 10 consisting of a photorefractive crystal element detachably, a signal light means which makes an interferable reference light beam with a 1st wavelength and an interferable signal light beam with a 1st wavelength which is modulated in accordance with image data incident upon the volume holographic memory 10 and generates a 3-dimensional light interference pattern and a means which detects a diffracted light from the volume holographic memory 10. A mask means which is provided in the light path of the signal light beam and covers about a half of the light intensity distribution of the signal light beam incident upon the volume holographic memory 10 with a 0th-order diffracted light as the center of distribution and a movement adjusting means which moves the center of the crossing region of the signal light beam and reference light beam in the volume holographic memory by a distance equal to twice the distance between peaks of the 0th-order and 1st order diffracted lights in the light intensity distribution of the signal light beam are also provided.
