Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heterocyclic substituted isoxazolidine compound having control effect on wheat powdery mildew, Cucumber powdery mildew, rice blast, etc., and useful for fungicidal compositions for controlling plant pathogenic fungi. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I (X is CH or N; R is a 1-12C alkyl, a halo-1-12C alkyl or the like; R1 is an aryl, a heterocycle or the like; R2 and R3 are each H, a 1-12C alkoxy or the like; R4 and R5 are each a 2-8C alkenyl, a halo-2-8C alkenyl or the like, with the proviso that R4 and R5 are not simultaneously H; R6 to R8 are each a 2-8C alkynyl, a 3-7C cycloalkyl or the like), preferably 5-(4-chlorophenyl)-2,3-dimethyl-3-(3-pyridyl) isoxazolidine. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting, e.g. a compound of formula II (e.g. 3-pyridyl-N-methylethylimine N-oxide) with a compound of formula III (e.g. p-chlorostyrene) in a solvent such as toluene, preferably in the temp. range of 50 deg.C to boiling point of the solvent.
