Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a circuit for generating a timing signal by raster inputting a line of image data in synchronism with a main scanning sync signal from a reference clock and driving a plurality of sets of recording chip in synchronism with a drive clock from the reference clock. SOLUTION: A reference clock generating means generates a reference clock 401 which is delivered to a printer processing section 312 and an LED drive section 224. The reference clock 401 is used for transferring an image date from the printer processing section 312 to the LED drive section 224 and, at the same time, it is used as a main scanning sync signal generating clock and an LED driving signal generating clock. A line of image data is raster inputted in synchronism with the main scanning sync signal from the main scanning sync signal generating clock and a plurality of sets of recording chip are driven in synchronism with the clock of LED driving signal from the LED driving signal generating clock.
